Why it matters: Final-year Kyoto University students whose JASSO loans end in March 2027 are asked to collect their papers in November and, with one exemption, register a repayment account.

Kyoto University said it will issue end-of-loan documents to final-year borrowers of loan scholarships from JASSO, the Japan Student Services Organization, whose loan term ends in March 2027, while undergraduate grant scholarship holders will receive no such documents.

According to the university, engineering students can collect documents at the Katsura campus on 12 November 2026, while the Yoshida campus will hand them out to humanities and social science students on 13, 16 and 17 November and to science students on 19, 20, 24 and 25 November.

The university asked students who cannot attend the scheduled dates to still collect the documents by the end of November, and to register a so-called relay account, the bank account used for repayment by direct debit, by 25 December 2026 at the latest.

The university said relay account registration is not needed for students holding only first-category loans whose total loan amount has become zero yen through adjustment with grant scholarships, and that no repayment briefing will be held, with borrowers directed to a repayment video instead.
