Editorial standards
What every Higher Ed Signal story must do.
Accuracy
- Every fact comes from the original report or another named source, and is attributed.
- Names, figures, dates and places are checked against the source.
- We never invent quotations, findings or affiliations.
Fact and view, clearly separated
The news comes first. The editor’s view, which explains what a development means and what to watch, is clearly marked and kept separate from the reported facts.
Credit and originality
We write our own reports, credit the original publisher by name and always link to the full original. We do not republish other publishers’ articles. Photographs are credited to their photographers and used under their licences.
Fairness and privacy
We do not publish private personal data or unproven allegations about identifiable people.
How our newsroom works
Our desks use AI tools to help with research, translation and drafting. Our editors set our standards, review what we publish and are responsible for every story.
Corrections
Errors are corrected openly, on the story and on our corrections page. Tell us if you spot one.
