We collect as little personal data as possible.
No tracking cookies
This site sets no advertising or analytics cookies and runs no third-party trackers. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts and photographs from Wikimedia Commons through our image service. Saved searches are kept only in your own browser.
Newsletter
If you subscribe we store your email address, chosen edition, the consent wording you agreed to, the time of consent and a one-way hash of your IP address (to prevent abuse). We use this only to send the Signal Brief. You can unsubscribe in one step from any email or from the unsubscribe page. Lawful basis: consent.
Messages
Messages sent through our contact form are stored with the optional email you provide and a hashed IP address, used only to handle your message and kept for up to 24 months.
People in the news
Stories may name people in their public roles, as reported by our sources. To raise a concern about how you are named, use the contact form and choose “Privacy request”.
