Why it matters: Parana Materials and the Aachen-Maastricht Institute for Biobased Materials are the named collaborators on the project, which runs from 2026 to 2029.

Maastricht University said the BISPOL project, described as a DEI+ project, aims to bring sustainable polyester materials that Parana developed over recent years to pilot production, with a timeline of 2026 to 2029.

According to the university, Parana Materials wants to develop the polyesters in collaboration with the Aachen-Maastricht Institute for Biobased Materials, and Professor Yvonne van der Meer is listed as the contact.

The university said the project will scale up the polymerisation technology and carry out application tests and sustainability analyses.

The university said Parana's technology allows low-reactivity sustainable raw materials to be incorporated into polyesters, and that validations so far indicate excellent physical and aesthetic properties.
