Why it matters: Bangor University's science park, the firms based there and young people in North Wales are the intended beneficiaries of the government funding.

The UK Science Park Association reported that M-SParc (Menai Science Park), the science park belonging to Bangor University, has welcomed a UK Government investment that it described as significant.

According to the association, the funding was made under the Autumn Statement and will back the next stage of expansion at the park's innovation campus.

The association said the money is meant to pay for fresh innovation space, help companies expand and create science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) openings for North Wales youth.
