Why it matters: Education faculties are the named partners for the joint dialogue and exchange activities the two councils intend to develop under the agreement.

According to Sineace, its Superior Council (Cosusineace), which governs Peru's national system for evaluating, accrediting and certifying educational quality, and the National Education Council (CNE) signed a framework agreement for institutional cooperation on strengthening teacher education in universities and higher education schools.

The agreement was signed at the first National Meeting for the Accreditation of Study Programmes of Education Faculties, a day of dialogue on teacher-education challenges and university programme quality, Sineace reported.

Cosusineace president Ángel Velázquez Fernández and CNE president Ada Gallegos Ruiz Cornejo signed the document, which aims to develop joint actions promoting spaces for dialogue and exchange with education faculties in favour of educational quality.

Velázquez said education faculties are responsible for training teachers and must reach a high level of quality, adding that accreditation recognises when programmes meet the conditions to prepare teachers well.
