Why it matters: The University of Kufa's Diwan Affairs Department is among the participants in a new ISO–Energy team chaired by the assistant president for scientific affairs.

The University of Kufa said its president, Professor Alaa Naji Al-Moula, issued a university order forming an ISO–Energy team.

According to the university, the team is chaired by Professor Abbas Talib Al-Hadabi, the president's assistant for scientific affairs, and its Diwan Affairs Department is taking part.

The university said the team supports rationalising energy consumption and the shift towards renewable energy sources, as part of its push for environmental sustainability and more efficient energy use.

The university said the step is in line with directives from Iraq's Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and a national initiative to support energy and reduce emissions.
