Why it matters: Members of the University of Brasília community and external residents can take part in jiu-jitsu, judo and karate sessions free of charge.

According to Andifes, Brazil's association of federal university rectors, the University of Brasília offers a continuous-action extension project called Peac Artes Marciais Comunitárias (Community Martial Arts).

The project offers jiu-jitsu, judo and karate as options for people both inside and outside the university community, Andifes reported.

Andifes said the activity is free of charge and combines personal self-defence with health and well-being.
