Tec de Monterrey's CAETEC experimental farm earns PROFEPA environmental certificate
Tecnológico de Monterrey's agricultural experimental farm passed an environmental audit by PROFEPA, Mexico's Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection, reaching performance Level 1.
Why it matters: Students from many degree programmes who carry out projects at CAETEC use a farm that PROFEPA has certified after an environmental audit.
According to Tec de Monterrey, its Campo Agro Experimental (CAETEC) obtained certification from PROFEPA, Mexico's Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection, after passing an environmental audit at performance Level 1.
The university said the recognition confirms that CAETEC manages its waste and resources correctly and operates to standards similar to those of industry.
CAETEC administrative coordinator Mirna Lourdes Flores Flores said the certificate recognises responsible management of the site's waste and the resources it uses.
Director Arturo González de Cosío Barrón described the site, which has dairy cows, maize crops and greenhouses, as a laboratory where students from many degree programmes work on interdisciplinary projects.
