Peru's Pronabec gives up to 20 extra points to applicants with 50% study co-funding
Applicants to Peru's Beca Generación del Bicentenario 2026 for postgraduate study abroad can earn extra points for outside funding covering at least half of academic costs, return-employment commitments, study leave or certain personal circumstances.
Why it matters: Peruvians admitted to foreign postgraduate programmes gain up to 20 points if their university or another body funds at least 50% of their academic costs.
Pronabec, the Peruvian Education Ministry's national scholarship and education loan programme, said applicants to the Beca Generación del Bicentenario 2026, which supports talented Peruvians to study for postgraduate degrees at foreign universities, can obtain additional points.
According to Pronabec, applicants who hold a letter committing to employ them on their return to Peru, or temporary leave for postgraduate study, can receive up to 10 points if their job is in the public sector.
Pronabec said applicants who have won additional academic funding on their own merits, from their admitting university or another public or private body, can earn up to 20 points, provided it covers 50% or more of academic costs.
Pronabec also awards up to five points to applicants including those with a disability, members of Amazonian native or campesino communities or the Afro-Peruvian people, and active firefighters.
