Why it matters: The FGHO, the HansaWomen and PatriFem projects and Lübeck's city archive are jointly transcribing archive sources on women's economic role in the Hanseatic era.

The Research Centre for the History of the Hanse and the Baltic Region (FGHO), affiliated with the European Hansemuseum, has started a new cooperation with the HansaWomen project at the University of Bergen, the PatriFem project at the University of Genoa and the Archive of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck, according to the announcement.

The partners will jointly transcribe historical sources from the Lübeck archive digitally and prepare them, in what is described as a citizen-science project.

The project centres on women and their role in economic life during the Hanseatic era, as part of research into the economic history of women in the Middle Ages.
