Why it matters: People with disabilities in Ouro Preto and in UFOP's academic community are the intended beneficiaries of the new health care reference network.

According to Andifes, the association of Brazil's federal university rectors, the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP) has established a Reference Network for the Health Care of People with Disabilities.

Andifes reported that the network is aimed at people with disabilities both in the Ouro Preto community and in the university's academic community.

The initiative is being carried out jointly with Brazil's Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship (MDHC), the Gorceix Foundation, UFOP's Pro-Rectorate of Extension and Culture (Proex) and the Ouro Preto municipal government, among others, Andifes said.
