University of Kufa drafts university-wide hazardous waste policy, pending formal approval
The University of Kufa's chemical safety and security division has drafted a proposed policy to create a single, safe system for handling hazardous waste generated in its laboratories and units.
Why it matters: Laboratories and scientific and technical units at the University of Kufa would come under a unified hazardous waste system if the draft is formally adopted.
The University of Kufa said its Chemical Safety and Security Division (CBRN) has prepared a proposed draft policy on managing hazardous waste at the university.
According to the university, the draft still has to complete review procedures before it can be formally adopted.
The university said the draft aims to establish a unified and safe university-wide system for hazardous waste, starting from the point where waste is generated inside laboratories and scientific and technical units.
The university presented the work as part of its efforts to strengthen chemical safety and security standards and protect the university environment.
