Why it matters: IPB University officials from directorate to service-unit level are expected to apply the rector's three pillars of integrity, innovation and empathy to their work.
IPB University's rector, Dr Alim Setiawan Slamet, swore in several of the Indonesian university's structural officials at the Startup Center Building on its Taman Kencana Campus in Bogor on Thursday 22 October, the university reported.
The rector said the transformation of IPB's organisation requires staff not to work in silos and asked officials to follow three pillars: integrity as a compass, innovation as fuel and empathy as the goal.
According to the rector, a position is a trust to drive change and secure the institution's sustainability rather than merely an administrative role, and every official from directorate to service-unit level has a crucial part in moving the organisation forward.
He said the systems, reports and regulations the university sets must support better service delivery rather than only meet administrative needs.
