IIT Bombay opens MED-TRIC centre to move medical technologies faster into clinical use
The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay has opened a Medical Technology Research and Innovation Centre, intended to connect academics, clinicians, companies and entrepreneurs working on new medical devices and technologies.
Why it matters: Clinicians, companies and entrepreneurs developing medical technologies with IIT Bombay now have a dedicated centre, headed by Prof. Rohit Srivastava, for joint work.
IIT Bombay said its Medical Technology Research and Innovation Centre (MED-TRIC) has been formally opened, with deputy directors Prof. Milind Atrey and Prof. Ravindra Gudi attending.
Prof. Rohit Srivastava heads the centre as its Professor-in-Charge, the institute said.
According to IIT Bombay, the centre is meant to bring academics, clinicians, companies and entrepreneurs together so that new medical technologies move more quickly from development into clinical use.
The institute said MED-TRIC will act as a shared platform for home-grown healthcare technologies and for turning promising research into widely available care solutions.
