German Jordanian University and Shoman Foundation host lecture on supply chain labour standards
The German Jordanian University's Business School and the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation held a joint lecture on supply chains, examining supplier labour conditions, workers' rights and child labour.
Why it matters: The German Jordanian University's Business School, which runs logistics programmes, staged the event jointly with the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation under their continuing partnership.
The German Jordanian University (GJU) reported that its Business School, working with the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation, staged a lecture on supply chain management.
GJU said three academics spoke: Hossam Al-Shammari from the University of Pennsylvania, Ali Al-Diabat from New York University Abu Dhabi, and Mohammad Al-Ghababsheh from Mutah University, the 2026 winner of the Abdul Hameed Shoman Award for Arab Researchers.
According to the university, the session examined labour standards at suppliers, including workers' rights and child labour, and how firms vet, certify, audit and work with suppliers to tackle social breaches.
Dean Bassam Maali said GJU began teaching logistics in 2005, introduced Jordan's first logistics management master's degree in 2016, and offers a dual track pairing studies with practical placements in Germany.
