German Jordanian University and OLITEC sign MoU to build smart greenhouse on campus
The German Jordanian University has agreed with company OLITEC to develop a smart agriculture project, beginning with a technology-equipped greenhouse on its campus for student and staff training and research.
Why it matters: GJU students and faculty members are set to gain training opportunities and graduation and postgraduate research projects linked to the planned smart greenhouse.
The German Jordanian University (GJU) said it has signed a memorandum of understanding with OLITEC setting a framework for jointly developing a smart agriculture project combining protected and open-field farming.
According to the university, the first phase will focus on setting up a smart greenhouse on the GJU campus fitted with modern agricultural technologies.
GJU said the project aims to provide training for students and faculty members and to be built into graduation projects, postgraduate research and applied scientific studies.
The university described the agreement as part of its commitment to strengthening partnerships with the private sector and with companies and industrial institutions.

GJU students and faculty members are the parties directly affected: if the first-phase greenhouse is established as planned, it will serve as the base for training, graduation projects and postgraduate research in smart agriculture under the partnership with OLITEC.
