Why it matters: Quantum computing researchers pursuing robust quantum bits through topological superconductivity have a new University of Cologne result, published in Science Advances.

Physicists at the University of Cologne say they have observed quantum states that agree with theoretical predictions of topological superconductivity.

According to the university, this is an important prerequisite for one possible approach to building robust quantum bits.

The findings have been published in the journal Science Advances.
