Why it matters: UNAM's offices abroad are the organisers of this seventh UNAM-Europe Research Seminar, which the university links to new public-health risks from insect-borne disease.

According to Gaceta UNAM, the National Autonomous University of Mexico's offices abroad have organised the seventh edition of the UNAM-Europe Research Seminar.

Gaceta UNAM said that changing climate, falling biodiversity and growing human mobility are altering the distribution of insects that transmit diseases, creating new public-health risks.

The university newsroom said understanding this phenomenon requires pooling experience from different regions and developing research and surveillance strategies.
