Why it matters: Companies in the consortium and members of the public can attend a session on advanced microscopy applied to earth, planetary and mineral science.

Kyoto University said its Science Co-creation Innovation Consortium will hold its 11th science lecture, titled 'Exploring Minerals, the Earth and the Solar System through Nano-measurement'.

According to the university, the lecture series is intended for companies participating in the consortium but will be open to the general public on this occasion only.

The university said the keynote will present efforts to link the knowledge and people of its Graduate School of Science with society, working together with industry.

The talks will cover uses of transmission electron microscopes and instruments combining focused ion beams with scanning electron microscopes in earth, planetary and mineral science, including reading planetary history from fine mineral structures, the university said.
