Why it matters: Authorities at Universidad Peruana de Las Américas, led by rector Orestes Cachay Boza, received Sunedu training on the national degree register and the SIU information system.

Sunedu, Peru's national superintendency for university higher education, said it held technical guidance meetings with Universidad Peruana de Las Américas and the Colegio de Obstetras del Perú, the professional college of obstetricians, on 26 and 27 October 2026.

The sessions were run through Sunedu's directorate for registering and recognising degrees and titles (Dirgratu) and its degree registration unit (URGT), and addressed specialised queries on registering and verifying diplomas.

On 26 October the URGT team trained the university's authorities, led by rector Orestes Cachay Boza, on handling applications in the National Register of Degrees and Titles and on using the University Information System (SIU).

According to Sunedu, the support allows the university to streamline internal processing of its files and so register diplomas in a timely way.

The guidance went to Universidad Peruana de Las Américas and the Colegio de Obstetras del Perú; if the training works as Sunedu describes, the university should be able to register its diplomas in the national register in a more timely way.
