Why it matters: Tourism regions are the intended users of nine indicators that an HM team developed with partners to monitor sustainability, from climate impact to local quality of life.

According to an announcement, a research team at Hochschule München (HM), Munich University of Applied Sciences, has developed nine key indicators together with the Deutscher Tourismusverband (German Tourism Association), reCET and TourCert.

The announcement said the indicators are designed to let tourism regions observe their sustainability development in a consistent way.

The metrics cover areas ranging from climate impact to quality of life in the destinations, the announcement said.
