Federal University of Santa Catarina to block outside access to its systems after federal cyber alert
Brazil's Federal University of Santa Catarina said it will temporarily suspend access to its institutional systems from external networks, citing an alert from the federal government's cyber-incident response centre.
Why it matters: Members of UFSC's academic community who use its institutional systems from outside university networks face a temporary loss of access under the preventive measure.
The Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) told its academic community on 23 October that access to its institutional systems from external networks would be temporarily suspended.
The university described the suspension as a preventive cybersecurity measure.
UFSC said the step responds to an alert issued by Ctir.Gov, the Brazilian federal government's centre for preventing, handling and responding to cyber incidents.

UFSC's academic community will be unable to reach the university's institutional systems from external networks while the temporary suspension, adopted in response to the Ctir.Gov alert, remains in place.
