Why it matters: Unesp, whose professor leads Codesinfo, is tied to a programme that has funded ten open-source tools and runs training in fact-checking and reliable news production.

According to Unesp's newsroom, a Unesp professor leads an initiative that combines artificial intelligence and journalism to counter disinformation.

Unesp reports that the programme, Codesinfo, was created by the Instituto para o Desenvolvimento do Jornalismo (Institute for the Development of Journalism).

Unesp says Codesinfo has so far funded ten open-source digital tools.

The programme also runs training intended to build expertise in fact-checking and in producing reliable news, according to Unesp.
