Why it matters: The University of Ilorin's Department of Mathematics produced the university's leading 2025/2026 graduate, who says he intends to continue into postgraduate study.

The University of Ilorin said Mathematics graduate Francis Olusegun topped its 2025/2026 graduating cohort with a flawless 5.00 cumulative grade point average (CGPA).

Speaking to the UNILORIN Bulletin on 21 October 2026, Mr Olusegun credited tough personal decisions, dropping interests that clashed and a study method tailored to himself, rather than sheer hours or unusual talent.

He also described his family's part in his studies and said he aims to go on to postgraduate work.
