Why it matters: Graduands of the University of Ilorin's 41st convocation were told by the university's Chief Imam that their character will shape what follows graduation.

The University of Ilorin said its week-long 41st convocation ceremonies concluded with a Jumaat service at the University Central Mosque on Friday 23 October 2026 and an interdenominational Christian service at Saint Thomas Aquinas Chaplaincy on Sunday 25 October.

According to the university, Prof. Nasir AbdusSalam, Chief Imam of the University Central Mosque, urged members of the university community at the Friday service to stay united and to build up the institution rather than damage it.

The university reported that at the same service he told graduands their character, not just their completed training, would determine what happens after graduation, and encouraged them to leave with integrity and determination.
