Why it matters: Teachers and secondary-school graduates in Cesar are the groups named for new training opportunities under the cooperation agreements being discussed with the university.

Universidad Nacional de Colombia (UNAL) said its rector, José Ismael Peña Reyes, met Eduardo Esquivel, Cesar's government secretary and acting governor of the department.

According to the university, topics discussed included use of the fisheries technological development centre located at UNAL's La Paz campus and new training opportunities for teachers and secondary-school graduates in Cesar.

The university said the meeting allowed progress on cooperation agreements that also cover strengthening the region's agricultural sector.
