Why it matters: The release reports the share of A level and other level 3 students who progressed to higher education or training within two years, with a value-added score.

On 15 October 2026 the UK government published 'Destinations of key stage 4 and 5 students: 2025', covering apprenticeship, education and employment destinations and progression to higher education or training.

According to the release, the 16 to 19 destinations data show where students who completed 16 to 19 study in 2023 to 2024 went in the following year.

A progression measure with a value-added score gives the share of A level and other level 3 students who entered higher education or training within two years of finishing 16 to 19 study in 2022 to 2023.

The releases also report destinations one, three and five years on for pupils who finished key stage 4 in 2018 to 2019, and give breakdowns by student characteristics and institution type.
