Why it matters: Patients with rare tumours in Eastern Bavaria are served by the recognised sarcoma centre at University Hospital Regensburg for specialised diagnosis and treatment.

University Hospital Regensburg (UKR) said the sarcoma centre of its Department and Polyclinic for Trauma Surgery has been recognised as an 'Interdisciplinary Centre of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Knochentumoren', a bone tumour working group.

According to the hospital, the centre is headed by Professor Maya Niethard, a certified tumour orthopaedist who is also managing senior physician of the trauma surgery department.

The hospital said Niethard and her interdisciplinary team offer a point of contact in Eastern Bavaria for highly specialised diagnosis and therapy.
