Peru's Pronabec and foreign ministry discuss using embassies to promote overseas scholarships

Pronabec, the Ministry of Education's national scholarships and student loans programme, met Peru's Ministry of Foreign Affairs to strengthen international education cooperation and widen postgraduate study opportunities for Peruvians, according to Pronabec.

Pronabec said the upcoming Bicentennial Generation Scholarship (Beca Generación del Bicentenario) call will offer 20 places for postgraduate study abroad this year, and that it projects expanding the offer to as many as 100 in 2027.

The two bodies discussed promoting scholarship calls through Peruvian embassies and consulates, an idea the foreign ministry was willing to support for citizens living abroad, Pronabec reported.

They also discussed the possibility of coordinating with foreign universities to obtain better economic conditions in academic programmes and so increase the number of state scholarship holders.
