IPB University signs MoU with Situbondo Regency and sets out options for local government partners
IPB University signed a memorandum of understanding with the Situbondo Regency Government and outlined collaboration options it offers local governments, from regional scholarships to applying innovations.
Why it matters: Local governments working with IPB University can use its Regional Representative Scholarship to open study opportunities for their best students, with selection mechanisms agreed by both sides.
IPB University and the Situbondo Regency Government signed a memorandum of understanding on Thursday 15 October at the Innopreneurship Center Building on IPB's Dramaga Campus in Bogor, the university reported.
The signing accompanied a national discussion on synergy between higher education, media and local government, organised by IPB University with Metropolitan.id and the Situbondo Regency Government.
Dr Alfian Helmi, IPB's Director of Cooperation, Communications, and Marketing, said local governments could collaborate with the university through options including the Regional Representative Scholarship (BUD), which gives top students from a region the chance to study at IPB, and the Regional Chair Teaching Program, in which regional heads share experiences and development challenges with students.
The university said its Village Government School, organised with the Bogor Regency Government, is now entering its sixth cohort.

The Situbondo Regency Government is now an MoU signatory with IPB University; any local government that takes up the Regional Representative Scholarship would select students through mechanisms agreed with the university, which says academic quality is maintained.
