Why it matters: Admissions and faculty leaders elsewhere can note how IPB University ties a subject olympiad to its achievement-based admission pathway while presenting agriculture as including technology and AI.

IPB University said its Faculty of Agriculture held the 2026 Indonesian Agricultural Olympiad (OPI), which ended at the Dramaga Campus in Bogor on 17 October.

According to the university, 11 winners received golden tickets to pursue studies at IPB University through its achievement-based admission pathway.

Faculty dean Prof Suryo Wiyono said the olympiad, now in its third year, will continue because it encourages student achievement and introduces fields of agricultural science.

The dean said agriculture extends beyond cultivation to advanced technology, automation, artificial intelligence and plant quarantine, with careers beyond plantation work.
