Why it matters: Structural officials newly installed at IPB University have been told by the rector to base their work on three pillars: integrity, innovation and empathy.

IPB University said its rector, Dr Alim Setiawan Slamet, installed a number of structural officials on Thursday 22 October at the Startup Center building on the Taman Kencana campus in Bogor.

According to the university, the rector told the officials that transforming a higher education institution cannot be achieved through changes to organisational structure alone, and requires leaders with integrity, innovation and empathy.

The rector asked the officials not to work in a fragmented way and to follow three pillars, describing integrity as the compass, innovation as the fuel and empathy as the goal.

He also said that systems, reports and regulations should support better service rather than merely meet administrative needs.
