Chile's CRUCH and Spain's CRUE sign 11 commitments on university cooperation
Chilean and Spanish rectors' bodies have signed a joint declaration of 11 commitments covering training, research and academic mobility, after two days of talks in Tenerife.
According to CRUCH, it and CRUE signed a joint declaration of 11 commitments aimed at strengthening university cooperation between Chile and Spain.
CRUCH said the signing closed two days of dialogue between Chilean and Spanish university authorities on shared higher education challenges, held on 19 and 20 October at the Universidad de La Laguna in Tenerife.
CRUCH said the document sets out a collaboration agenda that includes training, research and academic mobility.
Why it matters
The areas named in the announcement, training, research and academic mobility, point to international, research and mobility leaders in Chilean and Spanish universities as the audiences most directly concerned, though the announcement does not describe the individual commitments.

Rachel Smith, Students and International Editor
The announcement published by CRUCH confirms the count of commitments, the venue, the dates and three areas of collaboration, but does not set out what any individual commitment involves. Whether the declaration brings resources, deadlines or named owners, or how it will be implemented, cannot be judged from the announcement, and university leaders in both countries will need the full text before assessing its relevance to their own partnership plans.
