Why it matters: Staff running university volunteering programmes who cannot travel to Costa Rica can follow the 28-30 October meeting through its YouTube broadcast.

Costa Rica's National Council of Rectors (CONARE) said public universities from Central America and the Caribbean will gather for the sixth University Volunteering Meeting, known as ECVUN.

According to CONARE, the meeting will run from 28 to 30 October 2026 at Tecnológico de Costa Rica (TEC), with in-person activities and a broadcast on TEC's CEARTES YouTube channel.

CONARE said the event is framed within the International Year of Volunteering for Sustainable Development declared by the United Nations.

The meeting is aimed at public universities of Central America and the Caribbean. Because activities will be both held in person and broadcast on TEC's CEARTES YouTube channel, institutions that cannot send staff to Costa Rica will have a remote option for following it. The meeting opens on 28 October.
